Government of Canada invests in small modular reactor technology to help transition Canada to net zero with cleaner sources of energy

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced an investment of $27.2 million in Westinghouse Electric Canada Inc. to support its $57 million project so its next-generation SMR, the eVinci micro-reactor, can be successfully licensed in Canada. This technology has the potential to provide a more accessible and transportable source of low-carbon energy.

Three Northwestern Ontario airports to share more than $941,000 from federal government to maintain regional connectivity and jobs

The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay–Superior North, today announced more than $941,000 in financial support for three Northwestern Ontario airports. Of the total, the Kenora Airport Authority will receive $509,886, the Red Lake Airport $341,462 and the Township of Atikokan $90,000 for its municipal airport.

The Government of Canada strives to protect the health of Canadians from nicotine addiction and tobacco use. To support this, the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act (TVPA) was amended in 2018, with a focus on preventing uptake by youth and those who do not use tobacco products.
