Government of Canada supports digital technologies in southern Ontario

Today, the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a combined investment of nearly $4 million to support the scale-up and growth of two businesses: iS5 Communications Inc. and Crypto4A Technologies Inc. This combined investment will create 45 jobs and maintain more than 90 jobs, as well as leverage nearly $14 million in private sector support to the region.

New Investments in Public Health Research

In her 2021 Annual Report, the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam outlined her vision to transform public health in Canada. To help achieve this vision and revitalize public systems across the country, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) are collaborating to support research initiatives that respond to priorities identified in the CPHO’s report, which were partly informed by a broad national dialogue convened by the CIHR Institute of Population and Public Health.

Minister Joly to host foreign ministers’ meeting on Haiti

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will host a foreign ministers’ meeting on Haiti on January 21, 2022. This virtual meeting will allow the international community to convey its commitment to supporting Haiti as the country confronts a number of critical issues, including growing insecurity. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry will open the meeting.
