Competition Bureau preserves competition in sale of crop inputs in Lipton, Saskatchewan

The Competition Bureau has approved ProSoils Inc. as the buyer of Blair’s Family of Companies’ retail crop input facility in Lipton, Saskatchewan. This transaction closed on January 28, 2022. In July 2021, the Bureau, Blair’s and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) reached an agreement that required the companies to sell the Blair’s Lipton facility, as well as two nearby anhydrous ammonia facilities, to resolve competition issues related to their proposed joint venture.

James Webb Space Telescope instruments to be powered on

On January 24, the Webb Telescope reached it's destination. It is now orbiting around the Sun at the second Lagrange point, nearly 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth. Today, the telescope's four instruments – including the Canadian Space Agency's Near-Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectograph (NIRISS) – and the Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) will be turned on one by one. Functionality checks will be performed over the coming days.

Minister Wilkinson Provides Update to Canada Greener Homes Initiative, Including More Energy Advisors Coming to Manitoba

Today, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, announced a $903,000 investment for the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association (MEIA). This funding, which was provided through the $10-million call for proposals to train up to an additional 2,000 energy advisors, will help recruit and train up to 90 energy advisors in Manitoba.

Canada and FCM invest in stronger asset management in Manitoba communities

The Government of Canada is investing $1.18 million in 26 Manitoba communities through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). As Canada moves toward a strong recovery, these projects will help communities make data-driven decisions about key infrastructure and ensure long-term infrastructure performance.
