The Government of Canada is investing $10 million to support Kap Paper and protect over 2000 jobs across Northeastern Ontario

Today, Pauline Rochefort, Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State (Rural Development) announced the delivery of $10 million in conditionally-repayable FedNor funds to support the continued and future operations of Kap Paper. The announcement was made on behalf the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Responding to urgent substance use and addictions needs in Ontario communities

Today, Maggie Chi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, on behalf of the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, announced more than $19 million from the Emergency Treatment Fund (ETF) for 21 projects across Ontario, and more than $17 million for 13 projects across Ontario under the Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP).

Responding to urgent needs in communities most impacted by the overdose crisis

The Emergency Treatment Fund (ETF) is part of the Government of Canada’s efforts to help communities rapidly respond to emerging, critical needs related to the overdose crisis. Health Canada is providing more than $19 million in additional funding through the ETF to 21 projects across Ontario. Funding will support a wide range of urgent interventions to increase local capacity to help populations most affected by the toxic drug and overdose crisis.

The Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) provides time-limited funding for a wide range of innovative and evidence-informed projects including substance use prevention, harm reduction and treatment initiatives across the country.
