On August 6, 2021, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, issued the following statement on COVID-19.

Small craft harbours are the heart of Canada’s coastal communities. They are hubs of recreation and industry, and are essential to Canada’s growing blue economy. Canada’s seafood sector employs over 45,000 Canadians and generates over seven billion dollars per year. With approximately 90% of that product landed at small craft harbours, this infrastructure is vital to Canada’s local and national economies. Through Budget 2021, the federal government is investing $300 million to repair, upgrade and build new small craft harbours across Canada.

The Government of Canada is working in partnership with First Nations to narrow socio-economic gaps and support their goals for self-determination.

Government support will help EKÖ NATURE Glamping Inc. provide year-round accommodations in northwestern New Brunswick

Today, the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities , the Honourable Catherine McKenna, along with the Honourable James Aylward, Prince Edward Island Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, announced that Prince Edward Island has received a top-up payment of $16.5 million in addition to its 2021–22 fiscal year allocation of more than $17 million through the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF). This top-up doubles the amount of money that Prince Edward Island communities received through the program in 2020-21, enabling them to carry out infrastructure projects that support the well-being of their residents.
