The Government of Canada, provinces and territorial partners invest $8.5 million in Canada’s fish and seafood sector

Today, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, together with participating provinces and territories, announced a total investment of $8.5 million for eight not-for-profit fish and seafood industry associations. The non-repayable CFSOF contributions will fund essential market research, consumer research and domestic and international marketing strategies.

The Government of Canada, the Northwest Territories, and the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and British Columbia are pleased total funding of $8,596,200 for eight projects. The non-repayable Canadian Fish and Seafood Opportunities Fund (CFSOF) contributions will fund essential market research, consumer research and domestic and international marketing strategies.

Government of Canada announces the construction and operation of a new emergency shelter in Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation

Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation will be the site of a new shelter for Indigenous women, children and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in times of great need and crisis. This new shelter will be the first of its kind located in rural New Brunswick and will serve 15 Mi'kmaw and Maliseet communities, as well as extending shelter services to other First Nations communities in the Atlantic region.

Canada Invests up to $35 Million to Support Made-in-B.C. Clean Tech Projects 

The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, on behalf of the Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Minister of Natural Resources, today highlighted an investment of up to $35 million for innovative projects led by the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy. The Government of British Columbia and Shell Canada are also providing $35 million each toward the creation of the Centre.

Backgrounder : Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) Allocations and Additional Amounts for 2021-2022 Paid to Quebec

The Government of Canada has provided a total of $518.3 million under the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) to Quebec for the 2021‒22 fiscal year. In addition, the Government is providing a total of $495.7 million as a top-up, calculated based on 2020-21 CCBF allocations. The funding will be distributed by the Government of Quebec to approximately 1125 communities through the Quebec gas tax and contribution program (TECQ) for 2019-2023. CCBF allocations can also serve to fund public transit projects under the Quebec capital assistance program.

Canada Invests in New EV Chargers in Nova Scotia

Today, the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, Member of Parliament for South Shore–St. Margarets and Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, on behalf of the Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Minister of Natural Resources, announced a $100,000 investment to Nova Scotia Power to install 20 electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Nova Scotia Power’s facilities across the province to put Canadians in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future.
