Government of Canada announces support for Alberta hog producers

Today, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Marie Claude Bibeau, and Alberta Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Devin Dreeshen, announced the launch of an initiative under the AgriRecovery Framework to provide up to $3 million to assist hog producers impacted by processing shut downs due to the pandemic. Funding for the initiative is cost shared on a 60/40 basis between Canada and Alberta.

Correctional Service Canada provides update on the Penitentiary Farm Program

Today, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) announced an update on its Penitentiary Farm Program, which runs at Joyceville and Collins Bay Institutions in Kingston, Ontario. Offenders involved in the program have had the opportunity to learn technical, transferable and soft skills through their involvement in on-the-job and vocational training associated with the farming operations.

Northern Ontario Mining Showcase to bring 67 local businesses and organizations to world stage at PDAC 2021

Terry Sheehan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedNor, and Mayor Carman Kidd, City of Temiskaming Shores, today announced the roster of 67 businesses and organizations that will take part in the seventh annual Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) at the 2021 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention. PDAC 2021 will take place virtually from March 8th to 11th.

Expanded Northern Carleton Civic Centre will improve access to cultural and recreational facilities for Florenceville-Bristol residents

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, on behalf of the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development; the Honourable Margaret Johnson, Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Carleton-Victoria, on behalf the Honourable Gary Crossman, Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation; and his Worship Karl Curtis, Mayor of Florenceville-Bristol, announced funding to expand the Northern Carleton Civic Centre with a new multipurpose facility. Richard Bragdon, Member of Parliament for Tobique—Mactaquac, was also in attendance.
