Sustainable fisheries, marine safety, and protection of the marine environment are of critical importance to Arctic communities. In 2018, Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard announced the creation of stand-alone Arctic Regions to advance reconciliation, partnerships and collaboration with Inuit, First Nation and Métis Nation organizations and governments, provinces and territories and other partners.

Tribunal Initiates Expiry Review—Carbon and Alloy Steel Line Pipe from China

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an expiry review of its finding made on March 29, 2016, in Inquiry No. NQ-2015-002, to determine if the expiry of the finding is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping and subsidizing of carbon and alloy steel line pipe from the People’s Republic of China and is likely to result in injury.

Tribunal Initiates Final Injury Inquiry—Concrete Reinforcing Bar from Oman and Russia

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an inquiry to determine whether the dumping of concrete reinforcing bar, originating in or exported from the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation, has caused injury or retardation, or is threatening to cause injury. This final injury inquiry was initiated further to a notice received from the Canada Border Services Agency stating that a preliminary determination had been made respecting the dumping of the above-mentioned goods.

Government of Canada announces support for Alberta hog producers

Today, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Marie Claude Bibeau, and Alberta Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Devin Dreeshen, announced the launch of an initiative under the AgriRecovery Framework to provide up to $3 million to assist hog producers impacted by processing shut downs due to the pandemic. Funding for the initiative is cost shared on a 60/40 basis between Canada and Alberta.
