Government of Canada announcement to support Francophone organizations across Northern Ontario

Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, and Marc G. No cyber threat has been directed at the Government of Canada, nor its information technology infrastructure.

Canada and Ontario invest in improved community centre for Lucan Biddulph residents

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Labour, and Member of Parliament for Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Monte McNaughton, Ontario Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Member of Provincial Parliament for Lambton–Kent–Middlesex, on behalf of the Honourable Laurie Scott, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure; and Cathy Burghardt-Jesson, Mayor of the Township of Lucan Biddulph, announced joint funding for the expansion and revitalization of the Lucan Community Memorial Centre in the Township of Lucan Biddulph.

Alberta energy companies fined $1.5 million for unlawful deposit of chlorinated water into North Saskatchewan River

On March 18, 2021, Gibson Energy ULC and GEP ULC (operating in partnership as Gibson Energy Partnership) were sentenced in the Provincial Court of Alberta and ordered to pay a total fine of $1.5 million. The companies were found guilty of two counts of violating the Fisheries Act. The fine will be directed to the Government of Canada’s Environmental Damages Fund. In addition to the fine, the companies will be ordered to make a presentation to industry within Strathcona County about the danger of chlorinated water.

CRTC Broadband Fund second call: second round of selected projects

Today, the CRTC approved funding for seven transport projects from the CRTC Broadband Fund. Approximately 1,400 km of fibre transport networks will be built in northern Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia targeting 15 rural and remote communities representing almost 6,500 households, including five that are both Indigenous and official-language minority communities (OLMCs).
