The Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec announce more than $870 000 for the Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges municipal library

The Government of Canada is investing $435,750 through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The Government of Quebec is also investing $435,750 through its Cultural Infrastructure Development Assistance Program (PADIC). Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges will contribute $373,500 to the project.

Minister Wilkinson Launches Request for Project Proposals for the Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program

Today, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources, officially launched a request for proposals (RFP) for the Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). This program will result in an expansion of zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure and hydrogen refuelling stations in public places, on-street, multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces and vehicle fleets. Natural Resources Canada will provide funding through conditionally repayable contribution agreements of up to 50 percent of the total eligible project costs, with a maximum funding per type of infrastructure, up to a maximum of $5 million, per project. This RFP will close on August 11, 2022.

Minister of Indigenous Services Canada Issues Statement on the International Day of the Midwife

$2.2-billion expansion of the Low Carbon Economy Fund to support projects like Northern First Nations Home Retrofit Program

Today, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced a $2.8-million investment for SaskPower from the Low Carbon Economy Fund to support its Northern First Nations Home Retrofit Program, which this week is launching its application window for the year. SaskPower is also contributing over $1.0 million to support this project, which will provide energy efficiency home retrofits in participating First Nations communities.

Canada supports the Sagkeeng First Nation residential schools missing children initiative

The locating of unmarked graves at former Indian residential school sites across Canada is a tragic reminder of the abuse Indigenous children suffered in these institutions. The Government of Canada is working with Survivors, Indigenous leaders and affected families and communities as part of efforts to address historical wrongs and the lasting physical, emotional, mental and spiritual harms related to the legacy of residential schools. Part of this work includes efforts being made to locate and commemorate missing children who attended residential schools, as well as responding to Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action 72 to 76.

Ottawa and Québec provide $500,000 in financial assistance for Laval University

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, and André Lamontagne, Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, jointly announced financial assistance of $500,000 to fund a research project by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Laval University on the efficient use of electricity for heating and lighting in greenhouses. The funding is being provided through the Quebec Agri-Food Innovation Partnership Program under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
