Canada pledges additional support for Ukraine 

Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced that Canada will offer a loan of up to $500 million to the Government of Ukraine through the Bretton Woods and Related Agreements Act (BWRAA), to support the country’s economic resilience in the face of Russian military aggression. This is in addition to Canada's offer for a loan up to $120 million, announced on January 21, 2022.

The Government of Canada and the Quatsino and Kitasoo Xai'xais First Nations are pleased to announce the arrival and launch of two new dedicated response vessels under the Canadian Coast Guard’s Indigenous Community Boat Volunteer Pilot Program. The Quatsino and Kitasoo Xai'xais First Nations are members of the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary, and work and train with the Canadian Coast Guard, providing marine response within their respective traditional territories.

Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador Sign Financial Restructuring Term Sheets for the Lower Churchill Projects

The Minister of Labour, the Honourable Seamus O’Regan; on behalf of the Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson; accompanied by the Minister of Rural Economic Development, the Honourable Gudie Hutchings; Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern Affairs, Yvonne Jones, announced that the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador have agreed to a term sheet for a $1-billion federal loan guarantee for the Muskrat Falls and Labrador Transmission Assets and a term sheet relating to the $1-billion Labrador–Island Link Investment.
