New College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants officially opens

Canada is one of the top destinations in the world, with millions of people from across the globe hoping to come here every year to settle, visit or work. To navigate the immigration system, many people turn to consultants or other services for help. While nearly all operate honestly, unscrupulous actors can exploit the system and take advantage of people. That’s why the Government of Canada is strengthening the regulation of immigration consultants to protect those who wish to come here.

Backgrounder – Canada announces support for Sexual  and Reproductive Health and Rights for Women, Adolescent Girls and Children

Today, Canada announced $325 million in funding over 5 to 7 years for 11 projects with Canadian health partners. The announcement is based on the results from the Call for proposals - Health and Rights for Women, Adolescent Girls and Children, launched in July 2019. These projects will improve the quality of, access to and demand for integrated health services and information for women, adolescents and children at the community, health facility and system levels.

Canada announces support aimed at improving the health and rights of women and girls

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on health systems everywhere, disproportionally impacting women and girls around the world. To mitigate this impact, the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, participated in the 27th Canadian Conference on Global Health where he announced $325 million in funding for eleven projects with Canadian health partners.

Four National Film Board of Canada (NFB) works by Indigenous filmmakers will screen on November 22 in St. John’s at the Spirit Song Film Showcase, in a special evening of Indigenous short cinema. The free event starts at 7:30 p.m., with tickets available through the Arts and Culture Centre.
