The Government of Canada takes another step to reduce homelessness in Winnipeg
The federal government is allocating an additional $27.3 million in funding to End Homelessness Winnipeg through the Designated Communities stream and the Indigenous Homelessness stream of Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy. This brings the total allocation for Winnipeg from 2019-20 through 2027-28 to $174.7 million through these streams. This funding is helping service providers in Winnipeg prevent and reduce homelessness.

The agreement, entitled Mamo miro kanawerimatan awacak (“Together, for the good of children”), provides the Conseil des Atikamekw of Opitciwan with funding for two years to implement services provided for under Loi de la protection sociale Atikamekw d’Opitciwan (the Atikamekw of Opitciwan social protection law). The agreement will enable the organization to finance the services it provides to community members both within the community and elsewhere in Quebec.
