Federal-provincial partnership funds innovative research in agriculture and agri-food sector in Manitoba
The governments of Canada and Manitoba are investing $326,688 in several innovative research projects aimed at strengthening the agriculture and agri-food industries, through the Ag Action Manitoba program under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau and Manitoba Agriculture Minister Derek Johnson announced today.

Assault on two staff members at Edmonton Institution
On February 17, 2022, two staff members were assaulted at Edmonton Institution, a maximum-security federal institution, when responding to a physical altercation between two inmates. The injured staff members were evaluated and treated at an outside hospital. During the incident, one inmate was injured and was also treated at an outside hospital.

Canadians continue to welcome Afghan refugees in their communities
The Government of Canada is working hard to resettle at least 40,000 Afghan nationals as quickly and safely as possible. Over the past week, 335 government-assisted and privately sponsored Afghan refugees arrived in Canada on 10 commercial flights. They are destined for communities all across Canada, including Calgary, Winnipeg and Sherbrooke. To date, a total of 7,885 Afghan nationals have arrived in Canada.

(business alias AT) to support the implementation of a project valued at nearly $5.6 million. The governments of Canada and Quebec are announcing a total of $287,550 in financial contributions for Contrôle Concept Dynamique (Nummax), based in Québec, in the Capitale-Nationale region. The financial assistance will support the business in its efforts over two years to commercialize its innovative dynamic LED digital display products in the Canadian and U.S. markets. Tribunal Finds Injury—Certain Container Chassis from China
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today found that the dumping and subsidizing of certain container chassis, originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China, have caused injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will therefore be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency. The complainant in this case was Max Atlas Équipement International Inc., of Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec.
