NASA is inviting a limited number of media to visit the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to see the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft rolling out for the first time. The SLS and Orion will be tested no earlier than mid-February 2022 in preparation for the Artemis I mission.
Deadline for public submissions to 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan extended
Since the formal engagement process launched on December 10, 2021, the federal government received approximately 20,000 public submissions. In response to the overwhelming interest and useful feedback received so far, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, is extending the deadline for public submissions to the 2030 ERP by one week to 11:59 p.m. PST on January 21, 2022.

Canada’s health research community responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic from the time the first cases were identified in late 2019. Over the past two years, researchers across the country have rallied together to create new scientific knowledge and provide critical evidence to guide Canada’s response to the pandemic and keep Canadians safe. As the pandemic evolves, they continue to work on issues facing Canadians and their work is and will continue to help with our recovery from this pandemic. The Government of Canada has supported the research response to the pandemic with investments of nearly $280 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

The Government of Canada has created the Centre for Research on Pandemic Preparedness, within the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), to protect the health of all Canadians by developing and mobilizing health research for pandemic and health emergency preparedness, prevention, response and recovery. The Research Centre will work with the Public Health Agency of Canada and other key Canadian and international stakeholders to identify priorities, coordinate activities, and make targeted research investments.
