Backgrounder: Saskatchewan’s 2021‒22 federal Canada Community-Building Fund allocations and top-up amounts

The Government of Canada is providing $65.4 million under the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) to Saskatchewan for the 2021-22 fiscal year to distribute to municipalities participating in the program. In addition, the Government is providing $62.6 million as a top-up to the 2020-21 CCBF allocations.

Supporting communities across Saskatchewan

Today, the Honourable Jim Carr, Minister and Special Representative for the Prairies on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, announced that Saskatchewan has received $65,415,534 through the new Canada Community-Building Fund for the 2021–22 fiscal year, and will receive a top-up of $62,571,380. This top-up doubles the amount of money that Saskatchewan received through the program in 2020-21, enabling municipalities to carry out infrastructure projects that support the well-being of their residents.

Canada Child Benefit increases once again to keep up with the cost of living

Every child deserves the best possible start in life. That is why the Government of Canada introduced the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) five years ago to help give families a fair chance at success. Since then, each year the CCB has provided almost $25 billion in tax-free support to about 3.5 million families. This support has helped lift nearly 435,000 children out of poverty, grown the middle class, and put more money in the pockets of 9 out of 10 Canadian families compared to the previous suite of child benefits.
