Government of Canada signs pharmacare agreement with British Columbia to improve universal access to free medications

Today, the Honourable Mark Holland, Canada’s Minister of Health, and the Honourable Josie Osborne, British Columbia’s (BC) Minister of Health, announced the signing of a pharmacare agreement to invest more than $670 million over four years to provide universal access to contraceptive and diabetes medications, devices and supplies for residents of BC.

Final agreement reached to resolve Hardy class action

Today, the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, and Ann Cecile Hardy, court-appointed representative plaintiff, jointly announced that a proposed Settlement Agreement has been reached in the Federal Indian Hospitals (Hardy) class action.

Moratorium on Offshore Wind Development in Georges Bank

Today, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson and the Honourable Trevor Boudreau announced that they have jointly directed the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator to prohibit the issuance of submerged land licences for the offshore wind energy at Georges Bank, thereby creating a moratorium on offshore wind projects in the Canadian portion of Georges Bank.

Saint-Laurent receives $7.3 million from the federal government to fight flooding

The borough of Saint-Laurent is receiving an investment of over $7.3 million from the federal government to enhance its resilience against flood risks during heavy rainfall. Funded through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF), this financial assistance will be used to build water retention structures in Bois-Franc Park and the Midtown project, as well as to continue the development of the Saint-Laurent biodiversity corridor.

Government of Canada and Province of Nova Scotia fund improvements to infrastructure, innovation and science partnerships in the fish and seafood sector

Fisheries are vital to many coastal communities and a driving force of the economy in Atlantic Canada. The seafood sector is a rapidly shifting environment—with new innovative technologies being adopted and more efficient ways of harvesting being used. To support these improvements, today the Government of Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia announced funding through the Atlantic Fisheries Fund (AFF) for 142 projects in Nova Scotia’s fishing and seafood sector.
