The Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard will be joined by First Nations commercial fisheries enterprises to make an announcement

Nanaimo, B.C. – The Honourable Joyce Murray, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, with representatives from Nuu-chah-nulth Seafood LP and SalPac Fisheries LP, will announce investments in 52 commercial fisheries projects that will benefit 117 First Nations communities across British Columbia. First ever First Nation Health Ombudsperson's Office to be created in Saskatchewan

Chief Bobby Cameron of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) along with the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services, announced today that the FSIN will be establishing the first ever First Nations Health Ombudsperson's Office in the province of Saskatchewan. Indigenous Services Canada is providing $1.17 million to support this work.

Update: Centre Block construction site reopens as of Tuesday, February 22

The safety and security of workers on Parliament Hill is a top priority for Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). Following consultations with the Senate of Canada and House of Commons administrations, and the Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS), PSPC has announced, in collaboration with the Centre Block construction manager, PCL/ED, that the Centre Block site will reopen as of Tuesday, February 22, and will resume construction activities.

Obstructing DFO fishery officers performing their duty, or failing to provide required documentation, are serious and potentially costly offences

Several Provincial Court cases in the last two years highlight the potential costs, both financial and legal, of obstructing fishery officers. Conservation and Protection officers from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) have a wide range of powers to enforce the rules and regulations set out in Canada’s Fisheries Act. Failure to comply has led to charges and fines for individuals and companies.

Government of Canada announces up to $182.7 million to partner organizations to help farmers lower emissions and improve resiliency to climate change

Canadian farmers are key players in building a healthy environment and a more sustainable agriculture sector in Canada. Today, to support farmers in their efforts to tackle climate change, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, along with Francis Drouin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Member of Parliament for Glengarry–Prescott–Russell, announced federal funding of up to $182.7 million for 12 recipient organizations to deliver the On-Farm Climate Action Fund across Canada.

Tribunal Finds No Injury—Oil Country Tubular Goods from Austria

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today found that the dumping of oil country tubular goods, originating in or exported from the Republic of Austria, has not caused injury and is not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping duties will therefore not be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency. The complainants in this case were Algoma Tubes Inc., of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Prudential Steel ULC, of Calgary, Alberta, Tenaris Global Services (Canada) Inc., of Calgary, Alberta, and Hydril Canadian Company LP, of Nisku, Alberta, collectively referred to as “Tenaris Canada”.
