Atlantic Canada’s tourism industry is vital to the region’s economy and supports thousands of local jobs and businesses. That is why the Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador are investing in two non-profit organizations on the Bonavista Peninsula, to improve visitor activities in the area.

Today, the Honourable Daniel Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced that the Forks Renewal Corporation is receiving approximately $1.8 million to build a district geothermal system that will provide heating and cooling to its buildings in downtown Winnipeg. The Forks Renewal Corporation is also contributing close to $2.7 million to this project.

The Minister of National Revenue has requested that the Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson, François Boileau, examine the concerns expressed by the Muslim-led charities and to engage other charitable organizations led by racialized communities about their experiences with the Canada Revenue Agency.
