Government of Canada and B.C. government invest to bring high-speed Internet to over 2,000 more homes in British Columbia

Today, Terry Beech, Parliament Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard and to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Member of Parliament for Burnaby North—Seymour, on behalf of the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, along with Lisa Beare, B.C.’s Minister of Citizens’ Services, announced over $17.3 million in funding for 4 projects that will bring high-speed Internet to over 2,000 households in Cariboo regional district and in Indigenous communities of the Thompson-Nicola regional district in rural British Columbia.

Backgrounder: New Brunswick’s 2021‒22 federal Canada Community-Building Fund allocations and top-up amounts

The Government of Canada is providing $47,148,000 under the Canada Community-Building Fund to New Brunswick. This includes $46.5 million for the following 104 incorporated local governments and the unincorporated areas across New Brunswick, and the remainder of the funds will go towards program administration.

Supporting communities across New Brunswick

Today, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, announced New Brunswick has received more than $47 million through the new Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) for the 2021–22 fiscal year, and that the province will receive a top-up of over $45 million. This top-up doubles the amount of money that New Brunswick communities received through the program in 2020-21, enabling them to carry out infrastructure projects that support the well-being of their residents.

Government of Canada invests over $4.5 million to expand virtual health care services in Newfoundland and Labrador

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, announced a bilateral agreement with Newfoundland and Labrador to expand virtual health care services in the province.
