Investing in a new $40M community and recreation facility in Steinbach, MB 

Today, the Honourable Terry Duguid, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (Western Economic Diversification Canada) and to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change (Canada Water Agency), on behalf of the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, the Honourable Reg Helwer, Minister of Central Services, the Honourable Kelvin Goertzen, Minister of Legislative and Public Affairs and Deputy Premier of Manitoba and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Steinbach, and His Worship Earl Funk, Mayor of Steinbach, announced funding to build a multi-use Southeast Event Centre in downtown Steinbach as part of a renewal of the T.G. Smith Centre site.

Health Canada releases What We Heard Report from the Public Engagement on the National Strategy for Drugs for Rare Diseases

From January 27 to March 26, 2021, Health Canada undertook public and stakeholder engagement to seek ideas and views on what a national strategy could look like. Canadians were invited to participate by completing an online questionnaire, sending a written submission by email or mail, or attending one of five virtual public town halls. Virtual meetings were also organized with stakeholders.

New EV Chargers Coming to Hamilton  

Today as part of #EVWeekinCanada, the Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Minister of Natural Resources, announced a $100,000 investment to Upper Sherman MOBIL to install two electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers at its gas stations in Hamilton, helping put Ontarians in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future. The Upper Sherman MOBIL is also contributing over $107,000 toward this initiative, bringing the total project cost to over $207,000. Engineering, construction and procurement of this project are being managed by Ecohive, a local renewable energy company.

This top-up doubles the amount of money that Northwest Territories communities received through the program in 2020-21, enabling them to carry out infrastructure projects that support the well-being of their residents.

Government of Canada Invests over $3.1 Million to Expand Virtual Health Care Services in Nunavut

Government of Canada invests in active transportation link between Ottawa and Gatineau

Today, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; Greg Fergus, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, to the President of the Treasury Board and to the Minister of Digital Government, and Member of Parliament for Hull —Aylmer; His Worship Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa; and His Worship Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, Mayor of the City of Gatineau, announced joint funding for a new pathway for pedestrians and cyclists on the Chief William Commanda Bridge, connecting Ottawa and Gatineau. William Commanda served as Band Chief of the Kitigàn-zìbì Anishinàbeg First Nation from 1951 to 1970 and was an Algonquin elder, spiritual leader, and promoter of environmental stewardship.
