Feasibility Assessment for a Proposed National Marine Conservation Area Reserve in British Columbia’s Central Coast.

COVID-19 continues to have a disproportionate impact on vulnerable Canadians, creating a great need for additional supports. Community-based service providers such as charities and non-profit organizations are on the front lines, serving critical social inclusion, well-being and safety needs during the pandemic. This is why the Government of Canada has worked with national intermediary partners—Community Foundations of Canada, Canadian Red Cross and United Way Centraide Canada—to disburse $350 million to community-based organizations since last May. This funding was used to power thousands of projects, train countless volunteers, and support their communities along the way.

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, announced funding for projects across Ontario to operate safe voluntary isolation sites. The funding will support the following four projects: the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board for sites in Timmins, Cochrane, Hearst, Kapuskasing and Moosonee; the County of Hastings for a site in Belleville; the Kenora District Services Board for sites in Kenora and Sioux Lookout; and the City of Hamilton.

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, and the Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced the Expert Panel on MAID and Mental Illness, as required by the new MAID legislation which came into force on March 17, 2021.

Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and the Honourable Dustin Duncan, Saskatchewan Minister of Education, announced an agreement that will support an average of $10 a day early learning and child care for Saskatchewan families by the end of 2025-26. By the end of 2022, Saskatchewan families will see a 50 per cent reduction in average parent fees for children under age six in regulated child care.

PEI First Nation Councils establish new development organization and facility

Marcus Powlowski, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Rainy River, along with Terry Sheehan, Parliamentary Secretary for FedNor, today announced more than $4.14 million in financial support for five Northwestern Ontario airports. Of the total, Sioux Lookout Airport will receive $1,892,640, Dryden Regional Airport $885,020, Red Lake Airport $702,578, Kenora Airport Authority $439,512, and Fort Frances Airport $225,705. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Today, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development and Member of Parliament for Peterborough-Kawartha, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Kinga Surma, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure; and Dave Smith, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, and Member of Provincial Parliament for Peterborough—Kawartha, announced joint support to improve recreational facilities, municipal buildings, and a shoreline rehabilitation project.

The Government of Canada is investing more than $1.2 million towards these projects through the COVID-19 Resilience Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The Government of Ontario is contributing more than $323,000 toward these projects.

Marc G. The investment will help the community increase mushroom production and harvesting while balancing environmental protection with other forest activities.

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is providing funding to support First Nations, Inuit and Métis Nation organizations throughout Canada in their efforts to identify, digitize and preserve Indigenous language and culture recordings, and build digitization and preservation capacity in their communities.

The institution will be able to establish a circular energy efficiency platform, leading to the creation of several dozen jobs.

The Member of Parliament for Outremont and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, Rachel Bendayan, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for CED, today announced $198,000 in financial support for IMMUNI T (7206127 Canada inc.), an innovative business in the life sciences sector. This repayable contribution will enable it to acquire automated production equipment and robotize its analysis and diagnostic service lines. The project, which aims to boost the business’s growth in export markets, will lead to the creation of seven jobs.

Canada’s Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Ahmed Hussen, and Quebec’s Minister for Health and Social Services, Lionel Carmant, today announced that an additional $48.5 million in federal funding is being made available to communities in Quebec for 2021–2022 under the Reaching Home program to support the homeless-serving sector’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Quebec.
