Backgrounder: Canada and Manitoba support green infrastructure and upgrades to community, culture and recreation facilities

The Government of Canada is investing more than $21 million in these projects through the Community, Culture, and Recreation Infrastructure Stream and the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The Government of Manitoba is investing over $4.8 million, and other funding partners are contributing over $26.9 million toward eligible project costs combined.

Canada and Manitoba support green infrastructure and upgrades to community, culture, and recreation facilities 

Today, the Honourable Jim Carr, Minister and Special Representative for the Prairies, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Reg Helwer, Minister of Central Services and the Honourable Sarah Guillemard, Minister of Conservation and Climate announced funding for nine projects across Manitoba to support green infrastructure and upgrade community, culture, and recreation facilities. The projects will improve access to water infrastructure in several municipalities, create an urban tree canopy in Selkirk, and build or renovate key facilities in different locations to respond to community needs and make the buildings more energy efficient.

Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, announced an investment of more than $1 million to support the POST Promise initiative, led by a national not-for-profit organization. The mission of the POST Promise is to help boost consumer and employee confidence through enhanced awareness and execution of workplace health measures so that customers feel safe shopping as public health restrictions begin to lift and the economy begins to safely reopen.

$18.9 million allocated to the D’Autray RCM and the Matawinie RCM to continue deploying high-speed Internet services

The governments of Canada and Quebec are announcing a joint investment of $18.9 million to support the deployment of high-speed Internet to 10,980 additional households in the riding of Berthier, of which 10,500 are in the Matawinie RCM and 480 are in the D’Autray RCM, by September 2022. Thanks to this funding, all residents in these two RCMs will have access to reliable, efficient and affordable services by September 2022.

Health Canada Launches National Call for Proposals for the Substance Use and Addictions Program
