Residents in three Labrador communities to benefit from green and recreation infrastructure investments

Today, Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Elvis Loveless, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, announced more than $1.5 million in joint funding for four projects to safeguard public health and the environment, and to improve recreation infrastructure in Labrador communities.

$5.73 million to provide high-speed Internet access to more than 1,000 households in the agglomeration of La Tuque by September 2022

Thanks to a $5.73-million joint investment made as part of Canada–Quebec Operation High Speed, 1,020 households in the Mauricie region will have access to high-speed Internet services by September 2022. The $9.55-million project will be implemented by Xplornet.

The Governments of Canada and Quebec invest in seven recreational and sports projects in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region

Today, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Isabelle Charest, Quebec’s Junior Minister for Education and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, announced funding of more than $4 million for seven projects in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region. For the occasion, they were accompanied by Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Minister Responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region and MNA for Chicoutimi; Éric Girard, MNA for Lac-Saint-Jean; and His Worship Marc Asselin, Mayor of Alma. This funding will ensure that residents of the region have access to safe, modern facilities that promote active, healthy and inclusive lifestyles.
