Canada and New Brunswick Announce Major Investment in Wildfire Equipment and to Improve Community Resilience Against Wildfires

Today, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, and the Honourable John Herron, New Brunswick Minister of Natural Resources, announced a joint investment of $40.1 million over four years through the Government of Canada’s Fighting and Managing Wildfires in a Changing Climate Program (FMWCC) – Equipment Fund and the Resilient Communities through FireSmart (RCF) Program.

MP McLeod announces investment in community infrastructure to boost tourism

Today, Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for CanNor, announced a federal investment of over $565,000 to the Town of Hay River to enhance and expand the Hay River Golf Course.

Government of Canada Joins Global Efforts to Accelerate the Deployment of Offshore Wind and Help Power Canada’s Economy

It is in this context that the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson today announced Canada’s membership in the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA), which aims to mobilize international economies and agreements to accelerate offshore wind uptake. The Governments of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador have also joined GOWA as subnational governments, and today’s announcement demonstrates a collective positioning of Canada’s commitment and ambition to advancing offshore wind as a domestic source of clean and reliable energy.

Governments support crop health projects through research and innovation

The governments of Canada and Manitoba are providing $4.7 million in grant funding under the Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Partnership (Sustainable CAP) to support 36 projects, including several that benefit the future of crop health in Manitoba, under the Research and Innovation Program over the next three years, federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Lawrence MacAulay and Manitoba Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn announced today at CropConnect.

Building self-reliance into Atlantic Canada’s skilled trades apprentices

Today, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Steven MacKinnon highlighted funding of more than $1.5 million to seven regional organizations in support of 10 separate projects. The funding will allow these organizations to purchase better equipment and materials that will help them deliver quality training and that meet the latest industry standards. These projects are part of an earlier announcement of 114 projects under the Investments in Training Equipment funding stream.

Backgrounder: Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy – Investments in Training Equipment

The Investments in Training Equipment funding stream, part of the Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy, helps unions and training providers improve the quality of training through the purchase of equipment and materials that meet the latest industry standards, or by investing in new technology needed to train workers in the Red Seal trades. These 10 projects were assessed and approved through open calls for proposals in 2022 and 2023.
