2022 Adjustment to filing fees for Competition Bureau merger reviews will come into effect on April 1
The Competition Bureau announced today that the filing fee for merger reviews is set to increase from $74,905.57 to $77,452.36 pursuant to a required annual adjustment set out in the Service Fees Act. The new filing fee comes into effect April 1, 2022.

Today, Health Canada authorized a submission from Héma-Québec to change their source plasma donor screening criteria. The decision will enable Héma-Québec to move away from the current three-month plasma donor deferral period for all sexually active men who have sex with men, and to instead screen all source plasma donors, regardless of gender or sexuality, for high-risk sexual behaviours.

Today, the CRTC approved Rogers’ acquisition of Shaw’s broadcasting services, subject to a number of conditions and modifications. The CRTC has also set out several safeguards to ensure that the transaction benefits Canadians and the Canadian broadcasting system. As part of this transaction, Rogers is acquiring 16 cable services based in Western Canada, a national satellite television service and other broadcast and television services. This approval only deals with the broadcasting elements of the transaction.
