Government of Canada takes concrete actions to fight climate change in the agriculture sector

As stewards of the land, Canadian farmers are on the front lines of climate change and among the first to feel its effects. As we celebrate Earth Day, the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Francis Drouin, are announcing an investment of over $6.4 million for six projects, under the AgriScience Program, to help tackle climate change and create sustainability in Canada’s agriculture sector.

Dozens of Manitoba projects to receive funding for forage productivity enhancement on agricultural crown lands

More than 40 projects will receive a total of $704,000 in targeted financial assistance through the Agricultural Crown Lands Forage Productivity Pilot Program under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau and Manitoba Agriculture Minister Derek Johnson announced today.

Over $3.4M for Chocolat Lamontagne to Increase Production Capacity

Renewable Energy for District of Sicamous

Canadians have been clear about what they want: clean air and good jobs, a healthy environment and a strong economy. The Government of Canada is investing in community-led renewable energy projects that support energy independence and economic development while lowering GHG emissions. Today, the District of Sicamous broke ground on its Community Bio-Heat Project, which will help produce renewable energy within the municipality. The Government of Canada is providing $875,000 for Phase 2 of this project through Natural Resources Canada's Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities program. The Government of British Columbia is providing $175,000 and the District of Sicamous is contributing $176,000.
