The Governments of Canada and Quebec Provide Funding for 12 Recreational and Sports Projects in the Bas-Saint-Laurent Region  

Today, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, acting on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Isabelle Charest, Quebec’s Junior Education Minister and Minister responsible for the Status of Women, announced over $7.5 million in funding for 12 projects in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. They were joined by Caroline Proulx, Minister of Tourism, Minister responsible for the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Lanaudière regions, and MNA for Berthier, as well as the Mayor of Amqui, Pierre D’Amours. This funding will allow the population of the region to have access to modern and safe facilities that will promote an active, healthy and inclusive lifestyle.

Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund

On May 31, the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund started accepting applications from Black business owners and entrepreneurs. It seeks to address the specific systemic barriers Black business owners have too often faced when seeking financing. It also demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to addressing these barriers with long-term solutions by co-developing programs to better support Black entrepreneurs on their road to success.

Minister Ng announces the launch of the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund

Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, and Greg Fergus, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, to the President of the Treasury Board and to the Minister of Digital Government and Chair of the Parliamentary Black Caucus, announced that the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is now accepting loan applications.

Government of Canada and Cement Association of Canada announce partnership to advance global leadership in low-carbon concrete production

Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry; Marie Glenn, Chair of the Cement Association of Canada (CAC); and Michael McSweeney, President and CEO of the CAC, issued a joint statement by the Government of Canada and the Canadian cement sector to support a roadmap to net-zero carbon concrete. This partnership and the resulting roadmap will position Canada’s cement and concrete industry to become a global leader in low-carbon cement and concrete production and related clean technologies.
