Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, announced an investment of over $5.8 million for Elevate to launch a new and innovative job success program, Elevate Talent. She was joined by Mayor John Tory, who announced additional support for Elevate from the City of Toronto. This comprehensive program will reskill 5,300 job seekers from underrepresented communities, including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQ+, and Francophone professionals in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and match them with job openings in technology and innovation-based organizations, start-ups and the creative industries.

Funding through the Investing in Canada plan will support infrastructure projects in Alberta. The Government of Canada is investing nearly $25.6 million in these projects through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program with the Alberta government providing nearly $6.4 million. In total, this represents a combined infrastructure investment of more than $31.9 million.
