Joint federal, provincial, and community funding will support four community recreation infrastructure projects in the County of Frontenac. The Government of Canada is investing over $1 million in these projects through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada plan. The Government of Ontario is providing over $842,000 towards these projects, and recipients in the County of Frontenac are contributing more than $674,000.
Government of Canada invests in 10 First Nations Guardians initiatives
Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, announced $600,000 in funding for 10 new initiatives under the Indigenous Guardians Pilot. Guardians act as the “eyes and ears on the ground.” These initiatives will enable First Nations to monitor ecological health, maintain cultural sites, and protect sensitive areas and species, while creating jobs.

On June 3, 2021, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, announced $600,000 for 10 initiatives under the Tier 1 stream of the First Nations Guardians Pilot. Each initiative received $60,000 in funding.
