Canada and British Columbia invest to strengthen community resilience in Lions Bay and Whistler

Today, Patrick Weiler, Member of Parliament for West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea-to-Sky Country, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Bowinn Ma, Member of British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly for North Vancouver-Lonsdale, on behalf of the Honourable Josie Osborne, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and His Worship Ron McLaughlin, Mayor of the Village of Lions Bay, announced funding for two disaster mitigation projects in the Lower Mainland Region of British Columbia. These projects will help build more resilient communities, and protect both people and existing infrastructure.

Government of Canada invests to help build a competitive tourism environment and boost economic recovery efforts  

Marcus Powlowski, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Rainy River, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a FedNor investment of $293,000 for a new tourism product created by Science North, in partnership with Ripley Entertainment Inc. and Guinness World Records. MP Powlowski made the announcement during the launch of the Science of Guinness World Records Northern Tour at the Thunder Bay Museum.

Transport Canada issues fines for illegal operation of a pleasure craft as an uncertified commercial tour boat  

Transport Canada has issued fines to an individual who has violated various provisions of the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, by illegally operating a privately owned pleasure craft as an uncertified commercial tour boat. These actions contributed to a fatal boating incident on Lake Simcoe, Ontario, in September 2020.
