Government of Canada invests $2.8 million to help prevent human trafficking and support survivors and victims in British Columbia

Human trafficking is an unconscionable crime that impacts the most vulnerable in Canada and around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it even more difficult to keep people safe, and help victims escape situations of human trafficking and access the supports they need. Indigenous women and girls, newcomers to Canada, Black and racialized women and those living in poverty are particularly at-risk of being trafficked.

Supporting projects to help address harms related to alcohol use in Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador

The Government of Canada continues to support communities across Canada as they work to respond to increasing levels of substance use-related harms during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes nearly $2 million in funding over two years for three community-based projects, provided through Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program, to address alcohol-related harms.

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, announced nearly $2 million over two years for three projects in Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador to address alcohol-related harms, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Canada and FCM invest in asset management in Saskatchewan communities

The Government of Canada is investing over $1.1 million in 27 new projects in Saskatchewan communities through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities on behalf of the federal government. The program helps municipalities strengthen local infrastructure planning and decision-making by increasing local asset management capacity through investments in activities such as asset management training, technology and software enhancements and information sharing.
