Health Canada allows more flexible storage and transportation conditions for Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine

On March 3, 2021, Health Canada authorized a submission from Pfizer-BioNTech to allow its COVID-19 vaccine to be stored and transported at standard freezer temperatures (between -25°C and -15°C) for up to two weeks instead of ultra-cold conditions, facilitating more flexible transportation and local re-distribution of this vaccine

Government of Canada helps local manufacturer modernize its operations, scale up and create eight high-quality jobs in Temiskaming Shores  

Terry Sheehan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a Government of Canada investment of $410,250 to enable Wabi Iron and Steel Corp. to modernize and expand its manufacturing facilities in New Liskeard and immediately create eight high-quality jobs. In addition, the funding will help pave the way for the company to create up to 20 jobs as part of future expansions.

Quebec Fisheries Fund grants more than $1 million for 13 projects across the province  

The Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec are announcing funding of more than $1 million to improve the efficiency, quality and sustainability of Quebec’s fish and seafood sector. The Government of Canada’s contribution to these thirteen projects amounts to $855,806, and the Government of Quebec’s contribution is $376,773.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada announces a judicial appointment to the Federal Court

The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment under the judicial application process established in 2016. This process emphasizes transparency, merit, and the diversity of the Canadian population, and will continue to ensure the appointment of jurists who meet the highest standards of excellence and integrity. Angela Furlanetto, Prothonotary of the Federal Court in Toronto, is appointed a Judge of the Federal Court. Madam Justice Furlanetto replaces Mr. Justice P.B. Annis, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective June 18, 2020.
